1. Take chances, take lots of them. Because honestly, no matter where you end up and with whom, it always ends up just the way it should be. You mistakes make you who you are. You learn and grow with each choice you make. Everything is worth it. Say how you feel, always. Be you, and be okay with it.
2. Love isn’t always going to be perfect. It’s not a fairytale, or a storybook. And it doesn’t always come easy. Love is overcoming obstacles, facing challenges, fighting to be together, holding on and never letting go. It’s a short word; easy to spell, difficult to define, and impossible to live without. Love is accepting all of the complexities and simplicities. Love is work. But most of all, love is realizing every hour, minute, and second was worth it because you did it together.
3. I am part of the Navy, a military sister. I laugh and cry all of the time, this is my life. Most don’t understand and there is no need to explain, I am just simply standing behind my brother. Sure, he is countries away, but there is nothing I can do. If you loved a sailor, maybe you’d understand too. Trusting that two soldiers won’t knock on the door, you lie on the couch, weeping some more. Waiting by the telephone, desiring his call, wishing it were behind you before the tears start to fall.

4.You can give me a million reasons why I shouldn’t have to do this. But I can give you a million reasons why I’m proud to do it.
5. I looked back on us today, and I honestly don’t know why I missed you, and why I wanted you back. Sure, at the beginning, we were kids rushing into things we had no idea about. But slowly, instead of trusting you more, I trusted you less, and the more I loved you, the less I loved myself. But now, I’m free, and I’m not sorry. I had to get out. I knew it was over long before you said it. And I thought you broke my heart, but you merely made it stronger, made it resilient. Of course, I’ll never forget you, but there’s no way I’m ever going back. So goodbye, my first love. Thank you for being such a fabulous waste of time.

6. We have to go to school everyday. We learn pointless things, but we are never taught how to love ourselves. We aren’t taught how to make moments last. But I think the most unfair thing, is that at the end of high school, we are tested on something that we are never taught. We have to stand in front of each other and say goodbye.

7. Maybe your first love is the one that sticks with you because it’s the only person that will receive all of you. After all that, you learn better. But most of all, no matter what, a peice of you forever remains left behind in the heart of the one you loved- a peice no future lover could ever get, no matter what. That peice holds innocence- the belief that love really can last forever. It holds friendship and pain, trial and error, that one kiss that you will never ever forget, and that night under the stars that you can never get back. It holds youth, and everything you thought love would be. Everything that was proven wrong.
8. You have to protect yourself. You can’t just give yourself away. But holding people away from you and denying yourself love, that doesn’t make you strong. If anything, it makes you weaker, because you’re doing it because of fear of taking that chance. Of simply letting go and giving into it, and that’s what makes us who we are. Risks, that’s living. Being too scared to even try it- that’s a waste. I can say I made a lot of mistakes, but I don’t regret things. Because, at least I didn’t spend a life standing outside, wondering what living would be like.
9. We lose people we love because they are meant to love someone else. We lose them because we are destined to find somebody else. It is a simple fact that is sometimes hard to accept because we are too stupid to let go.
10. When your throat starts to burn, and your heartbeat speeds up, when your stomach tightens, and your lungs close up, when your tears rush faster than you’ve ever dreamed possible, that’s the worst pain you will ever feel. That’s your heart breaking.
11. I suppose it’s true that we all fall in love with things we can’t have.
12. We wonder why black and white photos capture our soul. I think its because without color, we aren’t drawn to the makeup, and the color of our eyes, or how tan our skin is. Black & white captures the innocence on one’s face & the hurt we’ve gone through to feel vulnerability. The glow we see comes from the inside. Brightening our eyes, our skin & our smile.
13. You’ve taught me and showed me many things. You taught me that I can love, that people can care about me. You showed me the feeling of being in someone’s arms when they mean the world to you. The feeling of compassion. So many wonderful things. Thank you for that. You’ve also showed me that people can break promises, that people don’t always hold true to their word. You’ve taught me that you can love someone more than anything in the world, yet hate them just as much. That just because someone says something, doesn’t mean it’s true. You’ve showed me how bad it hurts to have a guy you love and thought you loved push you away and treat you as if you are worthless. You’ve showed me wonderful things, just as well as horrible things. I do thank you for both. You’ve now prepared me for the harsh world I am entering of two-faced people. People who say they care, but don’t always. Thank you for teaching me early.
14. If you really knew me, you would know that I don’t fall unless you’re willing to catch me. If you really knew me, you’d know that this is the happiest I’ve ever been. If you really knew me, you’d know that I’m not as strong as everyone thinks I am. If you really knew me, you’d know that I don’t try to be anything that I’m not. You’d know that, even though life isn’t all about the sunshine and rainbows, I still try to find the good in it.
15. Don’t come back to me, asking for a chance. I gave you one, but you were too blinded to see it. So when I finally find someone who I could possibly fall in love with, don’t come by saying that I never gave you a chance. I gave you one, a big one. The ball was in your court, but you decided to let it pass you by. I was in love with you for so long. I waited, but I’m done waiting.
16. When you walk away from someone, and there’s no gravitational pull, that’s how you know you are doing the right thing.
17. If we knew what people say about us, and how unfair many of their judgements are, we would be slower to judge others without knowing all that is going on behind the scenes in their lives.
18. This is to you. This is to you, his best friend. The girl who puts up with more taunting, teasing and endless torture than she ever should because she knows he teases the people he loves the most. This is to you, the girl he always calls first to tell about his big news, or just to talk to someone about the lastest episode of LOST, even though he knows you don’t care, but you’ll listen. This is to you, who picks him up at any hour, at any place, when he gets into another fight with his parents, and he knows you’ll drop anything and everything to go and get him. This is to you, one of the guys. The one who laughs when they tell you they sometimes forget that you’re a girl, or when they create nicknames for you that aren’t cute, but mean something to you. This is to you, the girl who was there when there was too much alcohol and too much loneliness in the room the night things got carried away. This is to you, when you realize his best friends have become yours. This is you, who set up dates for him with your cute friends when a peice of you is actually jealous. And to you again, when you are the one that helps him through a relationship with those girls. This is to you, the girl that hears everything that people say about you two, and this is to you again, who chooses to ignore everything they say. This is to you, the girl who never thought she could say the sentence “No, we’re just friends…” so many times in her life. This is to you. The girl who ignores the looks, the comments, the rumors, and the speculations of everyone else. To the girl who knows the true meaning of friendship, even if she is “one of the guys,” or if she does maybe want something more. This is to you, the girl who couldn’t give up what she has for anything, because she is happy. This is to you.
19. They say people come and go. But the truth is, no one really disappears from your life. People never really leave; their roles just change.
20. It’s amazing. Some people, they just say these small little things, one sentence and it’s changed the way you feel about them in an instant. Small little worlds that can hurt you so much, or make you fall deeply in love forever. It changes everything, nothing between you is ever really the same again, even if they don’t know it, it still happens.
